Hey Everyone
I have been wanting to do this for a while so, here goes…
It's been a few years now since I graduated from UO (I did actually get a diploma) and I have been working at Pyatok Architects ever since. There isn't a week that goes by where I don't think about the HOPES conference and what that experience has done for me in my professional life. I feel very strongly that working on the HOPES conference gave me a unique opportunity to put together something "real" and meaningful while still in school, while fostering my desire to be involved with sustainable design . Since leaving the world of education it is very clear to me that having had that experience has allowed me to excel here at Pyatok Architects and take more of a leadership role in the professional world.
Maybe you feel similarly to me when you think back on your time working on the HOPES conference.
If so I want to encourage you to give a little back. Attached to this email is a fundraising flyer for this years conference. As you can see there is still money that needs to be raised in order to make this conference happen. When I thought of writing this email I figured if I could get 10 past HOPESTERS to donate $100 each that would be $1000 dollars or roughly 1/8 of what they need left to fund this years conference (even I'm impressed with my math skills!). Than I started thinking, if those 10 people got 10 other HOPESTERS to donate $100…yeah yeah, who know the story, but this is not an abstract online petition. This isn't a petition to try to, maybe help, to possibly get a chance to, if we work hard enough to…yadda yadda yadda...
This is a call to all of those who have benefited from their participation in the HOPES conference to show your continuing support and appreciation.
This is the 12th conference!!! I think this thing has legs, but we need to keep supporting it. I believe one of the most appropriate ways for us to continue to support the conference is by helping to fund it.
Do you remember when you were on the other side wondering where the money was going to come from? I do...
Please send in as much as you can to this years conference. $100 would be a nice starting point. I am willing to up the anti and commit to $200 (I really feel a huge debt of gratitude to HOPES).
