LEED-NC: Technical Review

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a comprehensive design and assessment tool that helps architecture, engineering and construction professionals improve building efficiency and measure the sustainability of their projects. Understanding LEED is an important step for reducing a building’s environmental impact and achieving superior economic performance. Architects, engineers, facility managers and building owners who master LEED concepts and processes become knowledgeable practitioners of green design and construction. This workshop, presented by the US Green Building Council is a great preparation for LEED projects and the LEED Accredited Professional Exam.

Instructors include:
  • Katrina Shum Miller of Green Building Services, Inc. has over 15 years of project experience in the U.S., New Zealand, and Malaysia. Katrina possesses an extensive knowledge of high performance building design, as well as sustainability and urban design strategies. Her expertise lies in bio-climatic building and urban design strategies, ecologically sensitive planning and community design, space planning and project management. Katrina applies her understanding of the LEED rating system to projects ranging from new hospitals and schools to civic centers and higher educational facilities. She is a frequent speaker at national conferences and leads eco-charettes, facilitates green building strategies workshops, and research efforts in bio-climactic green building design.
  • As a green building specialist, Nina Tallering provides green building consulting and LEED project management services. She also acts as a reviewer for the U.S. Green Building Council performing reviews of projects seeking LEED certification. Nina is currently working on the development of the LEED Application Guide for Retail as the contract program manager with the USGBC. With her experience as an interior designer, Nina has become an expert on green materials and she uses her knowledge to educate others. She was a lead instructor of the Sustainable Building Advisor Certificate program, and she helped to develop and teach a green materials class as part of Portland Community College's Sustainable Building Certificate Program.
Pre-registration is required and lunch will be provided. See the Workshop Flier for more information and to register go to the USGBC website.
