What are the benefits of making your community more sustainable? What are the impacts of a development on natural resources such as water and energy? How is a physical campus supporting natural habitat and helping to strengthen the local environment’s natural ecological functions? Roger Gula is from Mithun, a national leader and advocate for sustainable design recognized for setting new standards in the development of environmentally intelligent structures and communities. He will discuss these issues and showcase recent examples to explain the approach and process of developing sustainable solutions. He will also cover strategies and innovations that will lead the sustainable movement into 21st century level thinking. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Roger Gula, AIA, LEED AP, is an Associate Principal at Mithun, a national leader and advocate for sustainable design recognized for setting new standards in the development of environmentally intelligent structures and communities. He will discuss these issues and showcase recent examples to explain the approach and process of developing sustainable campus solutions. He will also cover strategies and innovations that will lead the sustainable movement into 21st century level thinking.
Roger’s architectural experience encompasses design through construction administration. His broad base of project experience includes commercial, institutional, student housing, and residential projects. Roger’s combination of technical knowledge and design talent enables him to be active in all phases of a project. His innovative designs and strong ability to problem solve with creativity assures the project’s success. His involvement in projects such as Concordia University’s East Hall and Nordheim Court at the University of Washington affords Roger an intimate familiarity with the special needs of campus housing projects. In addition, Roger was on the design team for Lloyd Crossing and Mosler Lofts, the first LEED® Silver condo project in Seattle.
