UNBUILT is to reassess the existing and find potential for the future. Our environment is shaped by the unseen–cultural, political and economic forces intersect with design to impact everyday life. How might we synthesize these forces in new ways to build a sustainable tomorrow? HOPES[24] aims to deconstruct the preconceived, voice the unheard and find potential in challenging the norm.
The HOPES Conference is an annual event, held every spring by the Ecological Design Center, a student group at the University of Oregon. Inaugurated in 1994, the conference is an opportunity for students, faculty, community members, and visiting scholars to discuss the relationship between ecology and various design disciplines, and how this connection can produce sustainable solutions to contemporary problems.

The UNBUILT Exhibition is a free student exhibition about unheard voices, untold stories and challenging the norm. All media is encouraged.
