Today we are witness to the global displacement of resources, populations, and natural rights. As ideas and objects are shifted by human forces, their movements generate unforeseen impacts and leave vulnerable spaces behind. We are dependent and culpable actors in this system and must reevaluate our resistance and ability to adapt to social, environmental and economic displacement. Where do we intervene amid these conditions of change, and how do we harness the opportunities of displacement to cultivate more resilient systems?

HOPES + OP Bike (& Hike!) Tour 2017
Saturday 04/08
9:30 AM – 2 PM
Meet at Outdoor Program office

All participants must have a helmet, closed shoes, plenty of water, and a picnic lunch. We will begin by biking to Mt. Pisgah where we will then hike to the top and learn from Landscape Architecture professor Whitey Lueck of the displacements our southern Willamette Valley has undergone. From Pisgah, we’ll bike back into town to chat with local advocate Philip Carrasco to hear of Eugene’s efforts in becoming a designated sanctuary city. Participants should come prepared with questions, ready for riding near potentially high traffic volumes, and be comfortable with climbing hills. A REQUIRED PRE-TRIP MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE OUTDOOR PROGRAM BARN AT 7:30PM THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH. Touring bicycles may be rented from the OP for $5. Helmets can be rented at no charge. Event is free. Contact Halley Anderson at hra@uoregon.edu or 865-591-5967 with any questions.

Participants should sign up prior to this event at outdoorprogram.uoregon.edu
